"Certainly not..." - Striker 'doesn't want to join Arsenal' in January

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix reportedly does not want to join Arsenal in January, in what will come as a major blow to the Gunners.

Felix has been linked with a possible move to the Emirates Stadium in upcoming window following the knee injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that there were 'no favourites' in the race to sign the player, with Manchester United, PSG and Aston Villa among the clubs interested.

The sticking point for most clubs is the fact that Atletico would want to recoup most, or all, of the £113 million fee they paid to acquire the 23-year-old from Benfica in 2019.

But sources have told ESPN that a fee of around £87 million would be enough to convince the club to sell Felix, and that they are indeed 'open' to a move.

Now, a new report have rated the chances Arsenal have of signing Felix in comparison to other clubs.

Joao Felix to Arsenal off?

Esteemed journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed to Dutch outlet SoccerNews that the Portugal international does not want to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

He has also named PSG as the club that Felix does want to play for, should he depart Atletico in the January window, and suggested that the Spanish club want more money for the player than initially reported.

He has made 18 appearances for Atleti this term, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

Di Marzio said: "Arsenal certainly not, because he wants to play for Paris Saint-Germain.

"Atletico just don't want to lose him at all, and they are asking €130/140 million for him!

"Paris Saint-Germain would be a logical choice if he does leave Atletico. After all, there are not that many clubs that can afford to pay him.

"PSG are interested in young players for the future, so that they can absorb a departure from Mbappe or Neymar. Or so that they have a replacement when Messi's contract expires."

According to reports, the Gunners have contacted the agent of Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic as they continue their striker search, although they could face competition from United.

But it now appears that Felix is likely able to be crossed off their list of targets, and Mikel Arteta's side will need to focus their attentions elsewhere as a result.
