Arsenal's new signing Jakub Kiwior has already broken three club records, fans are excited

The highly-rated Poland international joined the Gunners in January.

Arsenal new boy Jakub Kiwior has made a record-breaking start to life with the Gunners – and fans are understandably excited by his potential.

The highly-rated centre-back, who starred for Poland at last year's World Cup, penned a long-term contract with Mikel Arteta's side in January.

After monitoring the defender during an impressive two-year spell at Serie A outfit Spezia Calcio, the Gunners splashed a reported £21 million on Kiwior.

"Jakub is a player who will give us strength and quality to our defensive unit," Arteta said after the move was confirmed. "We welcome Jakub and his family to Arsenal and look forward to working with him.”

Arteta also claimed the "versatile" defender has shown huge potential with Italian side Spezia.

And those qualities have been on show in his first weeks as an Arsenal player, with Kiwior breaking 'several' club records at the London Colney training facility.

According to London World, the 22-year-old has broken the record for the fastest short sprint, highest agility jump and standing spring record.

As noted by the report, Bukayo Saka has been the most effective high speed runner in Arteta's squad but it seems he has competition in Kiwior, who clearly isn't short of pace.

The left-footed centre-back has made 24 appearances for club and country this season, including four World Cup appearances against Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and France.

The Poland international wasn't short of offers in January, according to his agent Sasha Baranov.

Napoli, Milan, Juventus and Bologna were all interested in his signature but Premier League leaders Arsenal showed a real interest in making the deal happen.

“We thought the boy deserved an important team, with all due respect to Bologna, the player couldn’t go to a team like Bologna," he told TV Play.

"When Arsenal come forward, it becomes difficult for a 22-year-old boy to say no.

"If it had been Juventus or another team it might have been the same, but Arsenal is the team that went further in the discussions."

Baranov added: “He didn’t think it would be that fast, I’m honest, we didn’t think he would leave in January, we were thinking from a summer perspective, thinking of staying at Spezia until June.

"Arsenal then arrived, the boy didn’t put pressure on, he said that if he could have done well otherwise he would have waited.”

Thoughts on the signing?
