Sky presenter forced to commentate on Arsenal goal during live coverage after technical issue

Sky Sports had a technical issue with audio during Fulham vs Arsenal.

Sky Sports presenter David Jones was in the unusual position of lead commentator during the Premier League clash between Fulham and Arsenal - and even found himself summarising a goal.

The Gunners raced into a 3-0 lead at Craven Cottage in the first half, with Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all getting on the scoresheet.

There were also three assists for Leandro Trossard, doubling his tally for the season. Liverpool star Roberto Firmino is the only other player to replicate the feat this season.

But Sky's commentary feed, comprising of Bill Leslie and Alan Smith, cut out midway through the half due to a technical malfunction.

And after a brief moment of simply crowd noise - something that viewers have had to get used to this weekend - Jones was forced to step in and deliver some commentary of his own.

Just moments after Jones was brought into the coverage from the studio, Trossard received the ball on the left flank.

He then chipped the ball over the Fulham defence, with Gabriel Magalhaes rising highest to head it into the back of the net.

Jones, therefore, got to commentate over what we assume was his first ever live Premier League goal - and it was a pretty good effort as well under the circumstances.

It got a few laughs from those inside the studio at Craven Cottage, Jones included, before the technical issues were fixed and the voices of Smith and Leslie returned to the air.

The duo then summarised the final two goals of the half, with Martinelli and Odegaard both finding the net for the Gunners.

The win sees Mikel Arteta's side restore their five-point gap at the top of the Premier League table to Manchester City, who defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 on Saturday.

Erling Haaland netted a penalty for City, who had to work hard for the three points at Selhurst Park. They are now unbeaten in six games in the Premier League.
