Arsenal target Mykhalo Mudryk made it clear how much the Gunners should pay for him after Shakhtar Donetsk placed a massive price tag on the player.

The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League table, some five points from last season’s champions Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add to his forward line, however, after £45million summer signing Gabriel Jesus sustained a thigh injury while at the World Cup with Brazil, which is likely to see him out of action for three months.

Mudryk has been on Arsenal’s radar all season, having netted three goals and claimed two assists in Shakhtar’s six Champions League outings this term.

There was speculation that the price for the 21-year-old starlet had increased from around £25million to £40-45 million. However Shakhtar’s director of football, Dario Srna insisted the player is worth much more.

He said: ‘If somebody wants to buy Mudryk, they must pay huge, huge, huge money. Otherwise, the president of the club (Rinat Akhmetov) will not sell him.

‘The market is deciding the price — not me. Antony, [Jack] Grealish, they are players of more than €100m and for me, Mudryk does not have less quality than them.“

Mudryk speaks out

Mudryk took to Instagram to share a graphic claiming that he was worth €40million (£34million), rather than the €100million (£86million) price tag Srna suggested.

In an interview, the winger also accused his employers of sabotaging his dream of playing for one of Europe’s top clubs.

The Ukrainian told Sport Arena: “When I found out about my price, I wasn’t just surprised – I was shocked,”

“But I am 100 percent sure that they are unlikely to buy a player from the championship of Ukraine for 100 million… I will not hide that I was very upset.

“The amount of 100 million puts a barrier for my transition to the top championship, which I so dreamed of. I can’t say that my dream was killed, but wounded – that’s for sure.”
