Arsenal could make huge profit on player whose transfer value has increased by more than £70m in one year

Arsenal could make huge profit on player whose transfer value has increased by more than £70m in one year

The transfer value of one Arsenal star has skyrocketed in the last year.

The transfer value of Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has skyrocketed in the past year, according to new data - which could net the Gunners a big profit should they ever sell the player.

Martinelli joined the Gunners from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019, and quickly made an impression at the club.

He scored a superb solo goal, in which he took the ball inside his own half and charged through the defence to score, during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Chelsea in February 2020 - one of three league goals in his debut season.

He was then restricted to a further 14 league appearances in 2020/21, scoring twice.

But it was in the last campaign when he shot to prominence, scoring six goals and providing six assists in 29 Premier League matches.

And this term, he has been a key part of the Arsenal side that has led the league for much of the season. Playing in a left-sided forward role, Martinelli has 12 goals and two assists to his name, and his form was rewarded with a call-up to Brazil's World Cup squad.

And, after signing a new contract last month, his value has increased further.

Arsenal star Martinelli value revealed

CIES Football Observatory, who assess player valuations, state Martinelli's current valuation in the transfer market at up to €120 million (£105m).

On March 28, 2022, Transfermarkt adjudged the 21-year-old to be worth around €38m (£33m) - meaning his current value is over £70 million higher.

The Brazil international signed a new contract last month to keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2027. He will now have the opportunity to further cement his standing in Mikel Arteta's side and win more trophies.

But if Arsenal ever do decide to sell, they will make a significant profit on the player. They signed him for a reported fee of £6 million - which has already proven itself to be a masterstroke of a deal.
