Arsenal have been ruthlessly mocked by their OWN fans after they shared a post explaining how the Champions League works.

The Gunners fell short of their pursuit for the Premier League title after they were chased down by Manchester City.

But in finishing second in the league, they secured Champions League football for the 2023/24 campaign.

It will be their first foray into Europe's elite club competition since the 2015/16 season.

And ahead of rubbing shoulders with the major European clubs, Arsenal uploaded a post explaining how the competition works.

They tweeted: "How the tournament works," while adding: "Everything you need to know about the Champions League ahead of the 23/24 season.

Considering it's a competition where Arsenal secured qualification for 19 consecutive seasons prior to their hiatus, the tweet didn't go down well.

Even their own fans poked fun at the tweet. It's clearly been a long time without Champions League football.

One Twitter user joked: "We've been out of champions league for so long the club is teaching us how it works."

A second tweeted: "How the tournament works? I know six years feels like a lot but it really isn’t."

A third added: "We’ve been out for so long the club just saw it right to remind us how the competition works."

A fourth said: "Guess its been that long we forgot how it works tbf."

Another commented: "I'm crying, we know how it works."

Arsenal will be in pot two for the Champions League group stage draw, meaning they won't be grouped with the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, among others.

Though they could still be in a group with the likes Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan to name but a few.

How will Arsenal fare in next season's Champions League campaign? Let us know what you think.
