Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has warned Bukayo Saka that "he will find things harder" as his career progresses.

Saka has been in scintillating form this season, emerging as one of Europe's most exciting talents at the age of just 21.

The winger has been a driving force behind Mikel Arteta's title charge, helping his side to an eight-point lead at the top of the table.

His spectacular 23 goal contributions in all competitions this term has seen him placed on a pedestal by Arsenal fans.

While the Hale End Graduate isn't just doing it for his club. Saka scored and assisted in England's 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifying win over Ukraine on Sunday, earning the man-of-the-match award at Wembley.

However, with the world at his feet, things are about to get harder for Saka - or at least that's the opinion of Merson.

Merson: Saka will find things harder

Merson has theorised that clubs will will start to gang up on Saka, and stop the ball getting to him.

“The problem he will find is because of the position he plays he will find things harder at some stage,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“As he becomes more well known, teams will put him on the radar a lot more.

“Teams will look to stop the ball getting to him and they will also double up on him very quickly.

“He will have to change his game again to combat that, but he has the temperament to handle that."

Merson went on to wax lyrical about the youngster, believing the sky is the limit.

“But he just loves football," added Merson.

"All he wants is to play football and he plays the game with a smile on his face. He has all the ingredients to go as far as he wants in the game."
