Erling Haaland’s Dad, Alf-Inge’s Brilliant Response After Being Handed Manchester City Shirt With ‘Son’ On The Back

Erling Haaland’s Dad, Alf-Inge’s Brilliant Response After Being Handed Manchester City Shirt With ‘Son’ On The Back

Erling Haaland’s move to City was made official on Monday morning.

Manchester City officially announced the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund on Monday morning.

By moving to the Etihad club, Haaland has followed in his father’s footsteps.

Alf-Inge Haaland was a midfielder and he spent three years with City before leaving in 2003.

19 years after his father left, Erling has now made the move to join the Blues. The club released a 14 minute long video that captured everything from Haaland’s first moments as a City player, including footage of him undergoing multiple medical tests in the weeks before his deal was announced.

The video also showed the striker meeting staff at the Etihad Stadium for the first time.

But it was Haaland senior who stole the show. A clip showed Erling giving his dad a City shirt with ‘Son’ on the back. This is after he was spotted wearing a City top with ‘Dad’ on the back when he was a child.

This was the perfect opportunity for Alf-Inge to make a classic ‘dad joke’.

He replied: “Thanks, but he doesn’t play for City.”

An amused Erling then said whilst laughing: “ Heung Min Son doesn’t play for City!”

The clip went viral sparking a lot of reaction from fans on social media.

One fan said: “Norwegian dad humor. Let’s go.”

Another tweeted: “Best thing on Twitter today!!”

And a third fan wrote: “Come on Pep. Get Son from Spurs.”

It is safe to say Spurs fans don’t need to worry about losing Son to City. The South Korean megastar only signed a contract extension with the club last year and is believed to be enjoying his time at Spurs under the guidance of Antonio Conte

Haaland joined City in a deal worth £51.2 million after the Premier League champions activated a release clause in his Dortmund contract.

The star striker has an impressive record of 86 goals in 89 appearances for the German club.

He will be expected to be the focal point of Pep Guardiola’s attack as the club are aiming to finally win the Champions League, a trophy that Guardiola is yet to win at the City helm.
