Alexia Putellas is officially the highest-rated active player on FIFA 23 - with the Barcelona Femeni midfielder a whopping 92 overall.

Putellas is one of the best female footballers around and won the 2021 Women's Ballon d'Or after helping Barcelona to Primera Division glory.

The Catalan giants are not in FIFA 23, but Putellas will be part of the Spain national team in the game.

Her overall rating of 92 puts her ahead of every normal player on the game, regardless of gender.

Putellas missed this summer's European Championship due to an ACL injury and she's expected to miss the rest of this season.

On the men's side of the ratings, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Kevin De Bruyne and cover star Kylian Mbappe are joint-top with a 91 rating.

Joining Mbappe on the cover is Chelsea Women's forward Sam Kerr. The Australia international is also a 91 international and scored 20 goals in 20 Women's Super League games last season.

Lyon duo Ada Hegerberg Wendie Renard are also 91-rated, while four female players are 90-rated too.

Among those are Alex Morgan, who won two World Cups with the USA, and Lionesses right-back Lucy Bronze.

This year is the first time EA Sports' hit franchise has included women's club teams and all Women's Super League players are headscanned. D1 Feminine sides from France will be included too.

Post-launch content updates will be available for the 2023 Women's World Cup at no additional cost. Previously, only the men's tournaments had been updated in this way.

Women's football has been available in FIFA since 2016 and is improved upon with every instalment.

This year will be the final time EA Sports use the FIFA branding. From 2023, they will use EA Sports FC to deliver 'the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes'.
