Chelsea have overtaken Manchester City in the race to sign Harry Kane this summer after reportedly preparing a more feasible player-plus-cash swap deal.
Just before Kane went away with England for this summer's European Championships, the Three Lions captain sensationally handed in a transfer request at Spurs.
As a result of that bombshell, City were believed to have had a £100m bid rejected for the wantaway striker, who could supposedly refuse to take part in pre-season training as he pushes for an exit.
And now, according to The Athletic, Chelsea "have the edge" over City to sign Kane during this summer's transfer window, thanks to their "overall package".

Their report states that the Blues could be prepared to use out-of-favour players such as Tammy Abraham or Callum Hudson-Odoi in a player-plus-cash deal.
And a package involving either Abraham or Hudson-Odoi - who both spent much of last season on the bench - may prove enticing to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, rather than a straight cash offer.
Chelsea are also still believed to be at the head of the queue for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, but the Bundesliga giants are reluctant to let their prized asset leave for less than £150m.
Because of Dortmund's stubbornness, it is also believed that the west London club could make an ambitious move for Robert Lewandowski - if, of course, they fail to land the Norway captain.
Bayern Munich are believed to want Lewandowski to sign an extension to his current deal, which expires in 2023.

But according to The Sun, the champions of Europe could make a stunning bid of £50m for the Bayern and Poland talisman.
And with Roman Abramovich's backing, the Blues will have the financial muscle to test the club's resolve.
So, who will it be for Chelsea this summer: Kane, Haaland or Lewandowski?
With all three widely regarded as the best strikers in the world, the acquisition of just one of them will, without a doubt, bolster the Blues' claims for the Premier League title this upcoming season. Watch this space.
