Manchester City have made their first move as they try to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, with an initial offer worth a guaranteed £100 million.

Kane reportedly told Spurs he wanted to leave the club at the end of last season, and that his preference was to stay in the Premier League.

City, along with rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, were quickly made the favourites to sign the England captain, with the striker even saying Kevin de Bruyne would be a dream teammate.

Now the Premier League champions have made the first move in the battle to sign him, with reports that they've offered £100 million plus the chance to include a player moving in the opposite direction as part of any deal.

According to reports, Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus would be the players on offer for Spurs to take to north London.

Unsurprisingly Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is determined to keep the club's talisman, with the 27-year-old still having three years left on his deal.

Despite a poor season for the club as a whole, Kane still scored 23 goals in the league, beating Mohamed Salah to the golden boot, and also provided the most assists in England's top tier.

City won the league by 12 points from local rivals United, and also won the Carabao Cup, without playing a number nine for much of the season.

Sergio Aguero's fitness, form and Covid issues led to Pep Guardiola often playing without a central striker, but despite that success it seems he wants to change that for next season.

As well as Kane, the club have been linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, though the Bundesliga club aren't interested in letting the striker leave this summer.
