Oscar Piastri's first lap times during the fourth day of testing in Barcelona have emerged ahead of his expected rivalry with teammate Lando Norris in 2026.

On Monday, the long wait for the return of Formula One finally ended as teams from across the grid arrived in Barcelona to take part in the first pre-season testing sessions of the year

Despite the fact that the testing in Barcelona is supposed to be completely closed off to fans and the media, there has been some lap time data appearing online published online by various media outlets.

Although it's unclear exactly how important these lap times are, with teams mainly using the test to identify any reliability issues following the significant changes to the regulations, it still offers some insight into which drivers we can expect to start the season well.

On Wednesday, the third day of testing, McLaren decided to send out a car for the first time this week, with 2025 champion Norris completing laps in the Woking-based team's 2026 car.

Just one day later, Piastri has been given the chance to try out the new McLaren car, joining the likes of Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton on track during the morning of the fourth day of testing.

After completing a total of 48 laps, SoyMotor reports that the Australian driver set a fastest time of 1:18.419, putting him just over three tenths of a second ahead of his teammate.
