Michael Schumacher's son Mick revealed heartbreaking detail about F1 legend's condition during rare interview

Michael Schumacher suffered a horror ski crash back in 2013.

Michael Schumacher's son, Mick, previously revealed a heartbreaking detail about the Formula 1 legend's health condition.

Back in December 2013, the world was shaken to its core after news emerged that Schumacher was taken to the hospital after a horror skiing accident.

At the time, the seven-time world champion was airlifted to the hospital, where he was placed in a medically induced coma until June 2014.

Ever since the tragic accident happened, very few updates have been issued on Schumacher's condition as his family chose to keep the details away from the public eye.

Back in 2021, speaking during a Netflix documentary titled 'Schumacher', the former Ferrari driver's son, Mick, spoke about how the accident has impacted his relationship with his father.

He said: "I think dad and me, we would understand each other now in a different way now. Simply because we speak a similar language, the language of motorsport. And that we would have so much more to talk about.

"That's where my head is most of the time. Thinking that how cool that would be. I would give up everything just for that."

Mick continued: "When I think about the past now, the images that pop up in my head are usually the four of us having fun. I see images of us driving a go kart in the meadow. I see images of us when we're out and about with the ponies, sitting on the carriage. Really many moments that resonate with joy.

"Since the accident, these experiences, these moments that I believe many people have with their parents, are no longer present, or to a lesser extent. And in my view, that is a little unfair."

Meanwhile, Schumacher's wife, Corinna, explained: "Michael is here. Different, but he's here, and that gives us strength, I find. We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he's comfortable, and to simply make him feel our family, our bond. And no matter what, I will do everything I can. We all will.

"We're trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. 'Private is private', as he always said. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us and now we are protecting Michael."
