Michael Schumacher's close friend gave heartbreaking update on F1 legend's health condition

Schumacher suffered a terrible brain injury after a ski incident back in 2013.

A close friend of Michael Schumacher delivered an update on the condition of the Formula One legend.

Schumacher, 56, won seven World Championship titles before retiring from the sport back in 2012.

But tragedy struck some 12 years ago after he was involved in a terrible ski accident in Meribel, France.

The racing icon is said to have fallen and subsequently hit his head on a rock, causing him to fall into a coma.

Schumacher has not been seen in public since the accident and media coverage on the German has been kept low key.

Roger Benoit, a popular F1 journalist who has a close relationship with the Schumacher family, described the ongoing situation as 'a case without hope' in an interview with Blick last year.

"There is only one answer to this question and that is simply what his son Mick gave in one of his rare interviews in 2022: 'I would give anything to talk to dad,'" said Benoit when asked for an update.

"This sentence says everything about how his father has been doing for over 3,500 days. A case without hope."

Schumacher is said to have attended the wedding of his daughter at the family's villa in Majorca back in October 2024, as relayed by The Mirror.

His wife Corinna has fought continuously to keep their relationship as private as possible following the accident.

It is another sad update as many had hoped the German would at some point be seen once again in public.

Former FIA chief and Ferrari boss Jean Todt is one of the few people who has been granted special permission to visit Schumacher, which he does on a regular basis.

Speaking to Corriere della Sera last year, Todt said: "We respect the privacy wishes of Corinna and her children, although we know of course that the accident had consequences.

"But anyone who says they know something, knows nothing."

Schumacher's only son Mick currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Alpine.

Schumacher Jr briefly competed in Formula One from 2021 to 2022, as he raced 43 times for Haas.
