Seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher reportedly made a rare trip to Switzerland to join his daughter before the birth of his first granddaughter.
Schumacher, 56, is widely recognised as one of the greatest drivers of all time, having been crowned F1 champion on seven separate occasions – the joint most alongside Lewis Hamilton.
However, very little is currently known about his condition after the German was involved in a tragic skiing accident in 2013.
Schumacher was placed into a medically induced coma due to sustaining serious injuries while skiing in the French Alps resort of Meribel in 2013.

According to previous reports by BBC News at the time, the then-44-year-old was skiing off-piste alongside his son when he hit his head on a rock before being evacuated to hospital.
Schumacher returned home in September 2014, but since the incident, his family have remained tight-lipped about his condition.

Speaking in a Netflix documentary in 2021, his wife Corinna explained how her husband showed that “he is strong every day” while saying “we’re trying to carry on as a family”.

When talking about his medical condition, Corinna added: "'Private is private', as he always said. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael."
Over a decade on Schumacher’s condition is still unclear. Very few people have been allowed into the family’s home since the accident.
As reported by The Telegraph earlier this year, just three people outside of his close family are allowed to visit the former driver.
The report claimed that French racing executive Jean Todt, former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn and ex-F1 driver Gerhard Berger have been allowed to visit him - although this is not confirmed by the Schumacher family.

However, according to a report by The Sun in April, the F1 legend recently flew to meet his first granddaughter.
The German reportedly flew from his family’s Majorca villa to their home in Switzerland to join his daughter, Gina-Maria, before Gina gave birth to baby Millie in March.

Michael has two children, with his son Mick following in his footsteps by also embarking on a career in racing.

Mick, 26, has competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Alpine, having previously competed for Haas in F1 as well as being a reserve driver for Mercedes and McLaren in 2023.
According to The Independent, the 26-year-old will take part in IndyCar testing next month as he looks to embark on a new challenge in his motorsport career.
It is reported that the German had been eyeing a return to Formula One with new team Cadillac ahead of the 2026 season, but the American-owned outfit chose Valtteri Bottas and Colton Herta to represent them, with Colton Herta as test driver.
