The best driver in Formula 1 history based on stats has been revealed.

Over the years, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton have often been regarded as the two best drivers in F1 history.

The pair are at the top of the tree when it comes to world titles, with both winning seven during their illustrious careers.

Hamilton is chasing a record-breaking eighth title but his hopes have been dented by the rise of Dutchman Max Verstappen.

In addition, Hamitlon's current team, Mercedes, have struggled to find the pace needed to challenge right at the front of the grid.

The Red Bull superstar has won the last three world championships and is well on course to claim a fourth in 2024. The 25-year-old currently has a healthy lead at the top of the standings.

As a result, Verstappen has entered the conversation to decide the ultimate GOAT of F1.

However, if ranking the drivers solely on statistics, Hamilton comes out on top ahead of Schumacher and Verstappen.

Despite taking part in 308 races in his career, Schumacher has only scored 1566 points, which is less than Verstappen’s tally of 2780.5 from 194 races.
