A rare update has been reported on Michael Schumacher as the Formula 1 legend continues his recovery from a traumatic brain injury.
The seven-time F1 champion was placed in an induced coma after a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013 - a year after his second retirement from the sport.
Schumacher was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, with doctors stating in a press conference that it ultimately saved his life.
He began to be gradually withdrawn from the coma in April 2014, and was subsequently transported from the hospital to continue his rehabilitation.
There have been few updates on Schumacher since then, with his family keeping news of his condition completely private.
He is based alongside his family, including wife Corinna, in a villa in Majorca.
In 2019, French outlet Le Parisien reported (via ITV) that Schumacher had travelled to Paris to undergo what was described as 'cutting-edge stem-cell therapy'.
Now, the Daily Mail's Jonathan McEvoy has offered fresh insight on Schumacher's life post-accident.
He reports that, while Schumacher does reside in Majorca, his 'main residence' is said to be in Switzerland - he is 'reliably told' - on the banks of Lake Geneva. There have previously been reports of Schumacher visiting Switzerland.
McEvoy adds that his former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt is 'one of the trusted few', outside of his family, that is given access to the German.
Todt, who also served as FIA president between 2009 and 2021, has commented about his relationship with Schumacher on a number of occasions since his accident, but has respected the family's privacy in terms of giving details of his condition.
He stated in 2019 that Schumacher 'continues to fight', and told L'Equipe in 2023: "Michael is here, so I don't miss him.
"[But he] is simply not the Michael he used to be. He is different, and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him."
McEvoy claims that former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn, who shared a close relationship with Schumacher during his time in F1, has seen him since the accident, though Brawn has never commented.
He reports that he asked a Spanish security guard outside of what is reported be Schumacher's home whether he was the owner, but he declined to comment.
