Verstappen Has Revealed True Feelings on Norris and Piastri Battle at McLaren

The Formula 1 title fight between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris is heating up.

Max Verstappen has already spoken about the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris amid the pair's fight to become Formula 1 world champion.

On Sunday, Piastri and Norris collided during the opening lap of the Singapore Grand Prix.

After getting a brilliant launch off the line, Norris got his elbows out as he overtook the likes of Kimi Antonelli and Piastri in the first few corners.

However, championship leader Piastri was far from impressed with Norris after the pair made contact during the Brit's move to edge in front.

Eventually, Norris stayed ahead and finished in third place, meaning Piastri's lead at the top of the standings was cut to 22 points with just six races left of the season.

Throughout the campaign, McLaren's handling of the title fight between their two drivers has often been criticised.

During the Italian Grand Prix in Monza last month, Piastri was told to give his place back to Norris after the Brit suffered a slow stop, a decision that was widely talked about after the race.

When told about the swap during the Grand Prix, eventual winner Verstappen said: "Ha! Just because he (Norris) had a slow stop?"

With the title fight between the two McLaren drivers heating up, Verstappen has previously given Piastri a piece of important advice.

Last season, Norris was Verstappen's closest challenger, and as per AutoSport, the Red Bull driver said at the time that Piastri is 'too good' to be a second driver to the Brit.

Verstappen said in October 2024: "For me he's definitely not a [number two driver] and if I was him I would never accept it.

"For me it's easy to talk, of course, because I've been in Formula 1 for 10 years and it's Oscar's second season, so it is always harder to put your foot down."

He continued: "But he's just a great F1 driver who doesn't deserve it to give up wins and positions and play second fiddle because he's asked to."

The 2025 F1 season will continue next weekend with the United States Grand Prix, taking place around the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
