Formula One fans have spotted the interesting gesture that Max Verstappen aimed at Lewis Hamilton after the British Grand Prix.

After he put together a stunning lap during qualifying on Saturday, reigning F1 champion Verstappen started in pole position during the British Grand Prix last weekend.

However, the speed of the McLaren car combined with challenging weather conditions proved to be too much for the Dutchman, who ultimately finished the race in fifth.

Another driver who went into the weekend with high expectations only to fall short was Ferrari star Hamilton, who set an unfortunate record while ending his impressive record of podium finishes at Silverstone.

And once the race was over, some eagle-eyed fans on social media noticed that the pair shared a moment together as Verstappen made a gesture towards his former rival.

In recent years, there has been perhaps no rivalry within Formula One fiercer than the one between Verstappen and Hamilton.

Season after season, the two men competed against each other for the championship title, culminating in the controversial and dramatic 2021 season closer in Abu Dhabi which saw Verstappen win the first of four consecutive titles.

But as the Dutchman finished the British Grand Prix, he made it clear that the rivalry is well and truly behind him, as he accelerated after the finish line to wave to Hamilton, who finished the race one place ahead of him.

Reacting to the moment, one fan wrote on X: "Wtf is he so cheery lock in bruv."

While one joked: "Lewis looks so confused, he's like "Is he waving at me?"

Another asked: "He doesn’t care anymore does he?"

And one fan claimed: "Max is honest inside out. Love him for this reason.. Brit media portrays him always as bad."

Perhaps one of the most controversial incidents during both Hamilton and Verstappen's careers came at Silverstone four years ago, as the pair collided on the first lap.

The incident had a huge impact on the season, causing Verstappen to retire from the race early while Hamilton took home the victory, despite being handed a 10 second penalty for the crash.

With that in mind, it's good to see that the two men are able to enjoy a friendly moment after the 2025 race on the very same track.
