Formula One fans are shocked at Red Bull's social media post about Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton after their controversial battle at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Ahead of the four-week summer break, the F1 grid lined up for the Hungarian Grand Prix at the iconic Hungaroring on Sunday afternoon.

Following his stunning lap in Saturday's qualifying session, Ferrari star Charles Leclerc started the race on pole position, ahead of McLaren pair Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

Meanwhile his Ferrari teammate Hamilton suffered a disappointing afternoon on Saturday, exiting qualifying in Q2 and starting the Grand Prix in 12th.

Things only got worse for the Englishman on Sunday, as he was involved in a highly-controversial moment with former rival Verstappen, leading to Red Bull posting a shocking comment on social media.

Saturday's qualifying led to Verstappen starting the race in eighth but an early pit stop meant that the Dutchman found himself battling with Hamilton for 11th by lap 29.

As the pair got closer to each other, the Red Bull driver finally made his move and lunged up the inside of Hamilton at Turn 4 of the 70-lap race.

Although the former championship rivals didn't make contact during the move, the seven-time F1 drivers' champion was forced to make evasive action, leading him into the run-off area and losing time on the lap.

It was later confirmed that the incident was going to be investigated post-race by the stewards, meaning Verstappen could be handed a penalty, but that didn't stop Red Bull from taking a sly dig at Hamilton online.

Posting on X, the F1 team wrote: "Lap 30: Max scares Lewis off the road at Turn 4 and is up to P11!"

Reacting to the post, one fan replied: "Tweet of the year."

While one added: "Admin you’re so spot on with this."

However, many others hit out at Red Bull for seemingly making light of what was a dangerous move from Verstappen that could have arguably led to a crash.

In another reply, one fan asked: "Scared or trying not to get hit? Lol."

One wrote: "Wait that make you proud? Cause ain’t no way."

By the time they passed the chequered flag, Verstappen finished the Hungarian Grand Prix in ninth, meanwhile Hamilton finished in 12th, making it the first time in his career he has completed the race outside of the points.
