Formula 1 fans expressed worry for Liam Lawson after he was forced to retire from the Miami Grand Prix to continue a tough 2025 season.
The 23-year-old has been on the books of Red Bull since 2019 when he joined the junior team and made his first appearance at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix for Racing Bulls as a replacement driver for Daniel Ricciardo.
He went on to replace Ricciardo on a full-time basis after the 2024 United States Grand Prix and was the permanent partner for Max Verstappen at Red Bull in the 2025 campaign following Sergio Perez' deal coming to an end by a mutual agreement.

But he lasted just two races with Red Bull and after officials felt they had promoted him too early, he traded places with Yuki Tsunoda starting with the Japanese Grand Prix and moved back down to Racing Bulls for the remainder of the season.
The New Zealander's form hasn't picked up and he finished 16th and 17th in the Bahrain and Saudi Grand Prix events. Things looked up when he finished seventh in the sprint race and was on course for his first points of the season.
But the stewards hit him with a time penalty after deciding he had been responsible for a collision which put an end to Fernando Alonso's race.

Then, in the race itself, Lawson had a first-lap crash with Alpine's Jack Doohan and his car was damaged - ultimately leading to him retiring in the 38th lap and again going pointless.
Afterwards, having had such a difficult time of late, Lawson did not look in the best of spirits as appeared to ask to be helped out of his race suit.
One fan on X reacted, commenting: "Liam Lawson having to be helped out of his race suit after miami ... i am actually about to crash out!"

A second added: "Makes me so sad."
A third user said: "I really hope he's okay."

Explaining the crash which caused him to retire, Lawson said: "I had a good launch, a gap opened up through the middle going into turn one and I took it and then I just felt being hit from the side.

"I'll need to watch it back but, obviously, it's destroyed the floor and we've had to retire."
Lawson will be hoping his luck improves in two weeks' time at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on May 18.
