Lewis Hamilton has worried fans with his post-race interview after finishing eighth at the Mexico Grand Prix on Sunday.
Hamilton qualified in third at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and had a positive feeling ahead of potentially recording his first podium for Ferrari in the 2025 season.
But early on that optimism faded away when he battled with reigning champion Max Verstappen for third place on lap four and took swift action to evade, moving off track and then rejoining via the grass to stay ahead of the Dutchman, who fell behind Ollie Barman of Haas.
The FIA instantly launched an investigation into three separate incidents involving Hamilton on the same lap.

While investigated for allegedly causing a collision when Verstappen made contact with him at turn one, as well as a probe into whether he didn't follow the race director's instructions at turn four, Hamilton was not punished.
However, he was sanctioned for "leaving the track and cutting the corner", to gain a "lasting advantage" on turn four and hit with a "standard" 10-second penalty.
Hamilton's Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, as well as Verstappen, had both gone off track and not given up positions earlier on in a similar manner but were not punished.

While Leclerc came second, Hamilton finished eighth and took four points when he could have been in podium contention had it not been for the penalty.
Furious with the decision, he was incredibly downbeat afterwards - remaining silent when race engineer Riccardo Adami spoke to him over the radio and staying in his vehicle when others got out and re-attached their steering wheels.

He then spoke to F1TV and concerned fans noticed that Hamilton looked extremely dejected, to the point of tears being in his eyes.

A third added: "Always the good people getting the short end of the stick but surely things will turn around, they just have to, someone give him a hug."
Reflecting on his immense disappointment, Hamilton said: "It was fun at the start. It didn't end up the way I hoped. But, you know, that's motor racing.
"It was very, very dirty offline. I did the best I could to bring the car back to the track safely, and that's all you could hope for. I got some points at least."

Discussing the penalty, Hamilton added: "I don't understand it. I haven't seen... I literally just got changed. It doesn't really matter. I know what happened, and I know how the race was. I don't care, I move forwards."
Hamilton also said he "felt very let down" by the FIA as he called out "double standards, while Ferrari hit out at the ruling with a statement.
Hamilton is sixth in the overall drivers' rankings with 146 points, behind teammate Leclerc. Lando Norris returned to the top of the table with a comfortable victory.
F1 returns on 9 November with the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Hamilton desperate to secure a podium finish before the 2025 season is done.
