Lewis Hamilton issued a concerning radio message to his team in the moments after he finished seventh at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.

Hamilton, 40, could not challenge the front-runners such as Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Suzuka Circuit on Sunday.

Instead, he finished seventh to add his tenth and sixth place finishes at the Australian and Chinese Grand Prix in recent weeks.

After the race in Japan, he explained how he wants to see “positive changes” from the Italian manufacturer ahead of next week’s race in Bahrain.

“I’m really hoping in the next race we’ll see hopefully some positive changes,” Hamilton said.

“Through the first three races, there’s been a bit of a deficit between both sides of the garage on some elements of the car.

“On my side, underperforming. So it’s good to know.

“With what I had that is the best result I could get.”

However, what he said to his team in the moments after the Japanese Grand Prix has caused fans to be concerned.

"Sorry for that result guys,” Hamilton said to his team via his radio. “Didn't have the pace today but I'm grateful you're continuing to push. Next race will be better."

Hamilton's Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc finished fourth in Japan.

Ahead of the 2025 campaign, Hamilton cut a rejuvenated figure and explained how representing Ferrari had been a dream since he was a child.

However, things have not gone as well as he would've liked with the Englishman currently eighth in the F1 Driver Standings.

Fans were quick to give their thoughts on Hamilton's performance via social media.

One said: "Now one thing is clear, if Ferrari’s floor upgrade in Bahrain doesn’t get them to podium contention at least, this season’s over."

A second added: "As soon as he swapped tyres to medium, he lost ground to Antonelli and the front of the grid. He was almost a second slower compared to the Mercedes, and the same goes for Charles in the first sector, where he was losing half a second to Max, McLaren, and Mercedes."

While a third commented: "He gonna be saying this next race too. He needs to be better when it comes to qualifying for starters. Literally. Don’t wanna hear no “I’m still learning” either. He just needs to be better and at least try pushing and overtaking."
