McLaren F1 driver Oscar Piastri has already revealed exactly what happens if F1 drivers need to go to the toilet during a grand prix.

Piastri, 23, will, no doubt, hope to capture his first F1 Drivers’ Championship crown during the 2025 season and will start in pole position on the grid ahead of tomorrow’s Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit.

His McLaren teammate Lando Norris won last weekend’s Australian Grand Prix, while Piastri finished ninth.

After his impressive performance in qualifying this week, the 23-year-old will be brimming with confidence having previously explained how he wants to “win the world championship” this year.

“I want to win the world championship this year and hopefully we have a car that's capable of doing that,” he said in a press conference after McLaren’s F1 season launch in February.

"I do think that I can become world champion this year,” he added.

Of course, this is a standard answer for most drivers on the F1 roster but last year he took part in a video answering 12 less straightforward questions sent in by fans, with one asking, ‘What do you do if you need the toilet during the race?’

"If you need the toilet in the race you don't have many options to you,” Piastri told Sky Sports F1 in October 2024.

"It's not unheard of for drivers to go in their suit. Personally, I've never had to.

"Well, I have had to, but I've never followed through with it.

"There's not much you can do. Some drivers are able to go in their race suit which is a bit gross, but if you gotta go, you gotta go."

And he was not the first driver to discuss the topic, as Ferrari’s - then at Mercedes - Lewis Hamilton also had his say last year during an episode of ‘Hot Ones’ on the First We Feast YouTube channel.

"We do have a drink tube in the car but I never drink in the car,” said Hamilton.

"I just forget most of the time. So, I usually have that weight taken out, it's only like 500 millilitres, but other drivers, quite a lot of drivers as far as I'm aware, pee in the car."

"I've drunk a lot before so literally just before we get in the car, go as many times as possible right until the last minute,” he added.

"But I just can't bring myself to pee myself."
