F1 fans are already looking forward to the new feature replacing DRS in the 2026 season.
The 2025 Formula One season will come to an end on Sunday afternoon following a title-deciding race at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
As the grid pass the chequered flag at the end of the race it will signal the end of the current set of regulations, which were introduced ahead of the 2022 season.
Many fans are already excited for the 2026 season which promises to be one for the history books due to the massive changes coming as part of the new set of regulations.

But there's one new feature that is standing out amongst the others for F1 fans, as the famous Drag Reduction System (DRS) is set to be replaced.

DRS was first introduced ahead of the 2011 season, allowing allowing drivers to open a flap on the rear wing to reduce drag and increase top speed for easier overtaking.
Drivers were allowed to do this once they were within one second of the car in front of them, with it becoming a staple of every F1 race.

But in 2026, DRS will be replaced by a new system, the Manual Override Mode, a new driver-activated electrical power boost system.
Similarly to how DRS has been used, the new system will allow drivers to make the most of redesigned power units boasting almost 300 percent more battery power, and choose when to use more electrical energy to overtake if they are within one second of the car ahead.
Although fans are no doubt excited to see the new technology in action, several of them took to social media to point out that funny abbreviation for the system.
Posting on X, one fan wrote: "Just remembered this is the last race before DRS is replaced with MOM and started laughing so hard at the potential radios i couldn’t breathe."

Another added: "From 2026 onwards, F1 drivers will have to use their MOM to help them overtake."
While one cheekily joked: "F1 fans, be ready for, 'Oscar Piastri is within Verstappen's MOM' from 2026."
F1 fans will get the first chance to see MOM in action between February 11-13 as pre-season testing gets underway held at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The testing in Bahrain will be the second of the pre-season, with the first test being held privately at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya between January 26-30.
Following testing, the 2026 F1 season will then begin on the weekend of 6-8 March for the Australian Grand Prix.
