Phil 'The Power' Taylor has made his feelings clear on who he thinks will win the World Darts Championship final between Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen.

All eyes will be on Ally Pally on Friday evening when two of the pre-tournament favourites meet for the biggest prize in professional darts.

Van Gerwen is looking to win his fourth World Championship title, having previously triumphed in 2014, 2017 and 2019.

Littler, meanwhile, is hoping to win the competition for the very first time, having finished runner-up to Luke Humphries last year in his debut appearance.

Van Gerwen, 35, booked his place in the final with a comprehensive 6-1 win over Chris Dobey in their semi-final, while Littler – still aged just 17 – thrashed Stephen Bunting by the same score in the last four.

It promises to be a box office match and 14-time winner Taylor has already hinted who he thinks will come out on top.

Ahead of the start of the tournament, Taylor was asked by The Sun to play 'winner stays on' with a number of the top names.

After tipping Littler to beat Gary Anderson, Taylor also predicted the youngster would beat Michael Smith and Van Gerwen as well as Luke Humphries – backing him to go all the way this year.

Speaking after his semi-final win over Bunting in which he averaged 105.48, Littler said he predicted another high-quality match against Van Gerwen.

"If we both turn up like we did tonight, it will be really good (final)," he told Sky Sports.

"As soon as Luke Humphries went out, that's what everyone was looking at but I had to focus on the quarter-finals and semi-finals. Now I've done that, I can focus on Michael tomorrow.

"We all know he's hunting for a fourth world title. I'm hunting for my first.

"Same as last night, go home, chill out and come back tomorrow."

Littler and Van Gerwen have faced each other 12 times in their career, with six wins apiece.

Both men will be desperate to take the lead in their personal rivalry, with the winner of the first-to-seven set final set to bag £500,000.
