Peter Wright got a surprise when James Wade farted in front of him during Event 17 of the Players’ Championship on Tuesday.

Wade beat Wright 6-5 in Leicester on Tuesday, but the real talking point of the evening was when he passed wind after throwing a dart.

A baffled Wright stepped back and appeared confused by the sound before realising exactly what it was.

“Oh boy, okay then… this is a streamed match, guys,” explained match caller Owen Binks.

“It slipped out... give it a second,” Wade replied.

However, a second was seemingly not enough for Wright, which caused Wade to try and prompt the Scot back into action by saying: “Go ahead. Do you want nine more arrows?”

And this was not the first time an unusual sound had come from Wade.

Back in September 2024, when taking part in a Players’ Championship match, a sound came from Wade’s direction, which some thought was him passing wind.

However, he addressed the situation on social media after the match against Callan Rydz.

Wade wrote on social media: “I feel I must address a situation following my run to the semi-finals of PC22 today.

“Footage has emerged of me doing what appears to be a ‘shart’ at the end of one of my matches.

“It was actually the Velcro on my new trainers. I now consider this matter put to bed as I don't wish to talk about it again.”

Fans were quick to react on social media after Wade’s antics on Tuesday.

One said: “Wade's opponents are blown off the board.”

Another added: “Not all heroes wear capes.”

A third commented: "Wondered why it was so windy yesterday at the Pro Tour Turns out it was James Wade s******g his pants again.”

While a fourth joked: “Rude guy... didn't slip out he used force... if the fart slipped out you don't have to use force.”

Wade exited the Players' Championship with a 6-3 defeat against eventual winner Chris Dobey at the quarter-finals stage.
