The PDC has announced that the World Darts Championship will undergo "its biggest evolution to date" from the 2026/27 event onwards following "unprecedented global demand" for tickets.
Alexandra Palace, a venue affectionately known as the Ally Pally, has hosted the World Darts Championship since 2007.
It has become one of Britain's most beloved sporting locations, with some of darts' most iconic moments taking place at the Grade II listed building in the London Borough of Haringey.
To the delight of many, more memories will take place at the venue after it was announced that the Alexandra Palace will remain the home of the World Darts Championship until at least 2031 after a new five-year agreement was struck.

As part of the landmark agreement, the tournament will move into Alexandra Palace’s Great Hall from the 2026/27 event onwards, meaning total tournament capacity will be around 180,000, an increase of more than 70,000.
The tournament welcomed 125,000 fans across its 2025 edition, which concluded in January and was won by Luke Littler.

It has also been revealed that individual sessions are set to welcome over 5,000 fans during the three-week competition.
PDC chief executive Matt Porter opened up on extending its partnership with Alexandra Palace through to at least 2031, and gave a further insight into its decision to move into the Great Hall.
“Ally Pally at Christmas is the identity of the tournament — its atmosphere is unmatched anywhere in sport," he said. “Demand for tickets has never been higher, and moving into the Great Hall from 2026/27 will allow more fans than ever to enjoy this incredible event.
“Previous obstacles to using the Great Hall have now been resolved, and this move represents a landmark moment for the sport.”
Alexandra Palace commercial director Lucy Fenner also commented, saying: “We’re honoured to have hosted the Worlds since 2007 and are delighted to extend our partnership with the PDC.
“Christmas simply isn’t complete without the annual trip to the darts at Ally Pally. Moving into the Great Hall from 2026 will take the tournament to a new level.”

As part of the extended agreement, the Matchroom Charitable Foundation will continue its support of Alexandra Palace’s Creative Learning programme, committing £300,000 across three years.
