Nathan Aspinall has revealed that he would give up his PDC Tour Card if he ended up doing a certain thing he promised he never would.
Aspinall, who currently ranks 14th on the PDC’s Order of Merit, was extremely honest when speaking about his omission from the 2026 Premier League Darts line-up.
The 34-year-old featured in Thursday’s (January 29) World Masters and overcame Shane McGuirk in round one, beating the Irishman 3-1 to progress to the second round, where he will face PDC World Darts Championship finalist Gian van Veen on Saturday (January 31).
And despite putting in a winning performance, it was what he said after his first-round match that really got fans talking on social media.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Aspinall was asked about missing out on the chance to compete in this year’s Premier League, admitting that he was taking “the positives” from a bad situation.
After explaining that a psychologist he works with told him that “this is the best time to miss out” on the 16-week tournament due to his upcoming wedding, Aspinall said that he is aiming to feature in more Pro Tour events.
He said: “I’m like, ‘Not being in that [Premier League] means I can play on the pro tours…’ I played eight of 34 two years ago. I’m playing well, and I think the sky’s my limit.”
Aspinall then jokingly suggested that he would like to see his PDC Tour Card revoked if he ever labelled himself as the ‘People’s Champion’ in the same fashion Stephen Bunting did during the recent World Darts Championship.
Bunting received negative comments on social media after making the claim and broke down in tears at a later press conference when addressing the hate, which was also directed at his teenage son.
“Wherever I go, [the reception] is amazing, and that’s what keeps me fighting,” Aspinall said when speaking about fans’ support.
“It’s been a good start to the year, but there’s a long way to go.”
A reporter then asked ‘The Asp’ about being the ‘People’s Champion’ before the 34-year-old joked: “I’m never going to say that, and if I do say that, you can take my Tour Card off me. I don’t want it.”
Fans were quick to give their thoughts on social media.
One said: "Most down to earth player on tour, always will support The Asp."
Another added: "I love The Asp! Hope he goes on to win it."
While a third commented: "Aspinall racing up the Likability rankings this year."
