Ask pretty much anyone who’s ever thrown a dart and they’ll confidently tell you that, with enough practice, they could make it pro.
Anyone who plays semi-regularly will hit 20s often enough to believe they’re just a few more training hours away per week from turning tops into trebles. It’s all just routine and repetition, right? Nurture, not nature.
Or at least that’s what a lot of people thought until Luke Littler burst on to the scene as a teenager and started winning titles at such a remarkable rate that pub players up and down the land had to accept that maybe, just maybe, there’s a fair bit of natural talent involved too.
So who better to rate our darts ability than the man himself, Luke TheNuke Littler, the youngest world champion in darts history with 12 major PDC titles to his name, the third most of all time. Oh, and he’s still only 19.

Wearing the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses to record our throws from the built-in camera, four of us at SPORTbible HQ stepped up to the oche - bravely or stupidly - to have our efforts judged by the man described by Luke Humphries as the “most talented darts player ever”.
The results were, as you might expect, mixed…
Jack Kenmare
Jack hit a treble 20 and threw a few other decent darts during the warm-up, but the pressure of doing it for an audience - of one - got the better of him as he hilariously missed the board altogether with his first throw.
Here’s what Luke had to say.
First throw: Bottled it from the start haha! 1/10!
Second throw: Good set up and a score on the board. 7/10
Third throw: Head’s gone! 5/10
Overall: Your technique’s not bad, but you need to get practicising, pal. 5/10.
Ben McCrum
By far the most nervous of the four contenders, we dread to think how Ben would cope in front of a packed-out Ally Pally. But Luke has spotted some potential…
First throw: Solid start. The technique’s decent, now you just need to work on the direction. 7/10
Second throw: You’re keeping it consistent at least! 7/10
Third throw: The technique is good again. I won’t talk about the score! 7/10
Overall: There's definitely room for improvement, but plenty to work with too. 7/10

“It’s the pressure”. We’re not saying we absolutely crumbled at the idea of having Luke Bloody Littler rating our technique, but…
First throw: Nice technique. But watch when you’re throwing it. 6/10
Second throw: Another good throw again, it’s just about the timing. 7/10
Third throw: Happens to the best of us! Watch your release and next time it’s a T20. 7/10
Overall: Not bad at all, a solid 7/10. Put the hours in and you’ll get there! 7/10.
Mark Holmes
Mark was fortunate to follow Jack. The only way was up, and so it proved. This feedback from Luke is going straight on the CV.
First throw: Nice set up. Just make sure you follow through when you throw it. 6/10
Second throw: Don’t rush it, take your time. 7/10
Third throw: Decent effort! 8/10
Overall: There’s plenty to work with here. Just get that practice in, mate. 8/10.
“Plenty to work with”. What we’ve all taken away from this is that we were right all along, we really are World Champions in the waiting with a bit more practice. Oh, and we might need to learn to handle the pressure of a crowd a bit better too…
To help us in our efforts, Luke kindly recorded three of his own efforts in the Oakley Meta HTSN glasses. Obviously he scored a 180. Could he do it on a cold Tuesday afternoon at SPORTbible HQ, though, that’s what we want to know?
