Joe Cullen Immediately Apologises After Realising He'll Be Fined For X-Rated Answer

Cullen was speaking after defeating Bradley Brooks 3-0 in round one of the 2026 World Darts Championship.

Joe Cullen put himself at risk of a fine with an X-rated interview answer at the World Darts Championship - and immediately apologised.

Cullen defeated Bradley Brooks 3-0 in his first round match at Alexandra Palace, averaging 99 in the process.

It was an impressive performance by 'The Rockstar', who could face reigning champion Luke Littler in round three.

Cullen is the 32nd and final seed but was up against a tough challenger in Brooks, who has enjoyed a strong 2025 and was tipped by Gerwyn Price to potentially have a strong World Championship before the draw.

But Cullen, from Bradford, always seems to thrive on the Ally Pally stage, and did so again in securing a safe passage through to the second round on Sunday afternoon.

He was interviewed on stage by Sky Sports' Abigail Davies, who jokingly pleaded with Cullen to 'please talk to me this year' after he gave one-word answers during an interview with her at last year's tournament.

Cullen was in a much brighter mood than on that occasion - though hilariously had to issue an almost immediate apology at the beginning of the interview.

When Davies asked him whether the win was 'cracking' - a reference from the iconic sitcom Gavin and Stacey - he replied: "It was cracking, love. It was f**king cracking!"

He then put his hand over his mouth, before quickly adding: "I didn't mean to say that, sorry! That's a fine. I'm sorry. I'll pay it now!"

He continued: "I knew I was up against a good performer in Brad, he's had a great year.

"It was a little bit similar to last year. I didn't know, but my son actually told me that Bradley was the favourite. And I was like, 'Really?'

"Brad's had a great year, but I've got a lot of experience on this stage. I've lost a few people a lot of money today.

"I was bang up for it, honestly. I was a bit subdued probably the week before, but my son told me that Bradley's 8/13 favourite. And that's nothing against Brad. I like Brad, I get on really well with him. Especially on here. If it's on Board 14 in Leicester [at the Players Championship], I get that. But I was up for today."

He concluded by re-iterating his apology: "Sorry for the swearing on the Gavin and Stacey reference."
