Ben Stokes tweets at 4am as he clears up post-Ashes drink situation

Ben Stokes tweets at 4am as he clears up post-Ashes drink situation

The England captain clarified the situation on social media.

Ben Stokes has cleared up the post-Ashes drink situation following the fifth test against Australia on Monday.

England beat Australia by 49 runs in the fifth and final test as they drew the series 2-2, with Australia retaining the urn.

Stuart Broad picked up the final two wickets on his final appearance for England as he capped off his legendary career in stunning style.

The conclusion of the Oval test brings an end to a thrilling series, which has seen memorable and controversial moments.

From Stokes' magnificent century at Lords to Zak Crawley's impressive innings at Old Trafford.

Not to mention Alex Carey's controversial dismissal of Jonny Bairstow in the second test, which led to the famously laid-back Brendon McCullum questioning whether his side would have a beer with the visitors.

On the BBC’s Test Match Special, he said: "I can’t imagine we’ll be having a beer any time soon."

Well, that seemed the case on Monday following the conclusion of the Ashes series.

Traditionally, both teams would go for a drink in each other's dressing room or even on the pitch.

However, that wasn't the situation as reports claimed England 'stayed behind locked doors'.

Contrary to reports though, England and Australia did meet up as captain Stokes revealed they went for a drink at a London night club rather than the dressing room.

The 32-year-old, who starred in the series, clarified the situation as he sent out a tweet at 4am.

"To clarify... Our wrap took longer than expected because of multiple last time event’s," he wrote on Twitter. "We decided to meet up in the night club rather than the dressing room."

Stokes is referencing Broad and Moeen Ali's retirement as he revealed the 'wrap' took longer than expected.

Ali, who was lured out of retirement to participate in the Ashes, hilariously said he'd delete Stokes' message if he attempts to get him back in the future.

"No, I know I'm done. If Stokesy messages me again, I'm going to delete it," he said, referencing the now-famous message he received from Stokes which read: "Ashes?"
