Pep Guardiola has provided an injury update ahead of Manchester City's Champions League match against Sevilla.

The Sky Blues, who are preparing to embark on their 12th consecutive Champions League campaign, face La Liga side Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Manchester City were placed in Group G last month, and will face Borussia Dortmund and FC Copenhagen, as well as the Julen Lopetegui's side in the Champions League Group Stages prior to the FIFA World Cup hiatus in November.

The England defensive duo were not named in the Premier League Champions' travelling squad for the fixture.

Walker was substituted off against Aston Villa due to injury on Saturday, as the Blues dropped points for the second successive away match in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Stones is also absent from the squad, despite being pictured in first-team training on Tuesday morning.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Pep Guardiola provided an update on the fitness of the pair.

"John is not much, Kyle not much too but I don’t know if he’s ready for Saturday or Dortmund or Wolves after the international break. [Muscular?] Yes," said the City manager.

Speaking specifically on the fitness of Stones, Guardiola said: "He arrived this morning feeling not good, that's why we are lucky the club gave me, gave us, [Manuel] Akanji.

"The history for John [Stones] and Nathan [Ake], they aren’t quite reliable to play every week. It is what it is. Mainly because this incredible schedule for many years, the players cannot sustain it for a long time."

Summer signing Kalvin Phillips, who was forced off due to injury during a recent friendly with Barcelona has been included in the squad for Tuesday's match with Sevilla.

Deadline Day addition Manuel Akanji is also in the squad, after the Swiss defender missed Saturday’s draw with Villa due to the birth of his second child.

Jack Grealish was an unused substitute against his boyhood club at the weekend, but is also with the City team in Spain after recently being sidelined through injury.

Sevilla are currently winless in La Liga, having drawn one and lost three of their opening four matches.

Meanwhile, City are second in the Premier League table, one point behind current league leaders Arsenal.
