Manchester City face a tricky test away against Newcastle in their third Premier League game of the campaign this weekend.

Pep Guardiola's men have made a solid start to their title defence with consecutive victories against West Ham and Bournemouth.

Erling Haaland has impressed with his showings down the middle for the Premier League champions after joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million this summer.

City will be looking to maintain their fine start to the campaign that has seen them score six times and concede none.

Haaland backed a brace on the opening day of the season as City recorded a 2-0 win at the London Stadium before setting up Ilkay Gundogan for the opener against Bournemouth last week.

Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips have both made their City debuts after impressing in pre-season.

A trip to Spain ahead of a friendly with Barcelona awaits City after their trip to Tyneside this weekend.

Bernardo Silva, who has been heavily linked with a possible move to the Camp Nou, will play the game in sky blue as the Portuguese looks set to remain a Manchester City by the end of the transfer window.

With a meeting with Crystal Palace looming less than 48 hours after City are expected to return to England next week, the games are set to come thick and fast for Pep Guardiola's men.

Guardiola confirmed in his press conference on Friday that Kalvin Phillips and Cole Palmer will travel with the squad on Sunday after returning to training earlier this week.

The Manchester City boss further stated new signing Sergio Gomez is in contention to register his first minutes in sky blue after recently completing a £11 million move from RSC Anderlecht.

John Stones and Aymeric Laporte remain on the sidelines as Guardiola could look to shuffle his pack with one eye on next week's tie against Barcelona.
