Phil Foden has been discussing what Manchester City's four summer signings will add to an already star-studded squad.

On the eve of the Premier League champions' title defence, the Stockport-born midfielder has been previewing what looks to be another highly-competative season.

After winning back-to-back titles, the Blues are looking to make it three consecutive successes for the first time in the club's history.

They begin their 2022/23 adventures in East London, where David Moyes' impressive Hammers side pose a huge threat in attacking areas.

In last seasons penultimate fixture, Jarrod Bowen was in flying form and scored a quick-fire brace just before half-time.

However, after Pep Guardiola's half-time team talk, City returned for the second 45 with different energy and battled back to earn a point.

City could have even snatched all three in the dying moments, but Riyad Mahrez's penalty was well saved by Lukasz Fabianski.

This year, the Europa League semi-finalists will face a new-look Blues side that has been refreshed with some deadly talent over the summer.

Despite losing Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, City have brought in some exciting talent in attacking areas.

None more so than Erling Haaland, who has been scoring goals for fun in the Bundesliga.

Speaking to City's official website, Foden has been discussing what the Norway international will bring to the team ahead of his expected Premier League debut.

“I think we have been lacking that type of striker for the past few seasons, so he (Haaland) is definitely going to help us this season with his work rate," he began.

“He is powerful, he dominates defenders and that is just what we need up front.”

It's not just Haaland who is causing excitement, however.

Julian Alvarez has arrived with serious goalscoring pedigree from South America and Kalvin Phillips will add much-needed tenacity in midfield.

“Obviously, we lost some key players, but we have signed some great ones as well," Foden continued.

“I am really excited to play with the new signings.

“Hopefully we can get a good connection and play well together."
