Erling Haaland Officially Unveiled As A Manchester City Player

Erling Haaland has been officially unveiled as a Manchester City player on Monday, completing a £51 million move from Borussia Dortmund.

Late last month, Erling Haaland completed his final medical checks for Manchester City with club officials in Barcelona, before flying to England to complete a groundbreaking transfer to the Etihad Stadium.

The 21 year-old was then spotted in a vehicle travelling from Manchester Airport on the same afternoon, and was also soon pictured entering Tast Catala - a restaurant in Manchester city centre part-owned by manager, Pep Guardiola.

Erling Haaland completed all the various media duties with Manchester City the following day, with the Norwegian international spotted in the club's brand new home strip for the 2022/23 campaign outside the City Football Academy.

Now, after months of speculation, Manchester City have finally got their man, and officially announced the signing of Erling Haaland on a five-year contract.

Giving his initial reaction to the transfer, Haaland said, “This is a proud day for me and my family. I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions.

“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.”

The 21-year-old has set the footballing world alight since his breakthrough at RB Salzburg. After a few years in Austria, he made the move to Borussia Dortmund and scored a staggering 86 goals in 89 games.

A move to Manchester City is now seen as the natural step up in the striker's career, and he will now be testing his ability in England, amongst such a star-studded squad that will be pursuing success in four different competitions.

After two years of the false-nine system, Erling Haaland's arrival would seemingly signal a switch back to a traditional striker formation, with his clinical nature in front of goal expected to make the difference the Champions League in particular.
