Since the first moment Manchester City had been linked with a move for Julian Alvarez, hype around the relatively unknown commodity had been palpable.
It goes without saying that one of the major reasons behind the excitement amongst fans is due to the former River Plate hero being one of South America’s most gifted young forwards.
However, the primary factor that has created a buzz around the Argentine’s name is due to the obvious parallels between him and Sergio Agüero.
From Julian Alvarez’s physical build, his style of play, to his signature celebration, it is clear to see why is often compared to Manchester City's all-time top scorer.
The legendary striker has also previously discussed how he tips the 22 year-old to become a major success at the Etihad Stadium.
Julian Alvarez, who is known to be on good terms with Sergio Agüero, has revealed that he had a discussion with the latter about what to expect from life at Manchester City.
“Sergio (Aguero) told me some things about what it is like to work under Pep (Guardiola)," he said.
"He told me about how the training is run at City.
"He told me about the city of Manchester itself.
"I spoke to him at the time of my signing and again during the last few days and weeks as well”, he said in a new interview with Sky Sports.
The youngster continued, “He has given me all kinds of different advice, all of which I obviously listened to very carefully with this being a new world for me moving to Manchester.
"I wanted to listen to everything Sergio said so that I could adapt as quickly as possible to life in England.”
Speaking of Agüero, Julian Alvarez was also quizzed about his thoughts on the Sky Blues icon’s unforgettable ’93:20’ goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012.
“I remember that goal well.
"Watching at home with my family, I knew it was a hugely important goal.
"I did not quite get the dynamic of the Premier League at the time because I was very young but I knew that it was a big one.”
The Argentine international also went on to shed light on the opportunity of working alongside arguably the best manager in the world in Pep Guardiola.
“Even in the very short time that I have been here, you can see straight away that he is a very hard worker and a great coach.
"What I have noticed so far is that he is very much a details man, it is all about the details across the board with everything.
"His record speaks for itself. He has been at the top level for many, many years and I think it comes across to everyone that he is a fighter,” he said.
All in all, it seems as if Julian Alvarez has always been eager to make an impact in English football, ever since he decided to join Manchester City.
