Erling Haaland's father hints at Manchester City EXIT DATE for his son

Erling Haaland's father hints at Manchester City EXIT DATE for his son

Alfie Haaland - the father of Manchester City striker, Erling - has hinted at a possible exit date for his son from the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland's father, Alfie has hinted at a possible date for his son to leave Manchester City, speaking during a new documentary.

There has been speculation ever since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium whether Manchester City were the career-long club for the Norwegian international.

However, concerns amongst some fans were heightened when details of a release clause emerged shortly after his arrival from Borussia Dortmund was confirmed.

As per the information of James Ducker of The Telegraph, Erling Haaland’s release clause in his Manchester City contract is between €150 million and €200 million.

At the time of reporting, it was further explained that all of Haaland’s suitors would have had to agree to a release clause as part of any deal, and that it formed a part of the negotiation process.

It was further revealed that officials at Manchester City were 'entirely relaxed' with that.

Speaking during a new documentary titled, 'Haaland — The Big Decision' - which aired this month on Scandinavian streaming service Viaplay - Alfie Haaland revealed that his son wants to test himself in all major leagues in Europe.

As part of that revelation, the former Manchester City man hinted at the idea of Erling Haaland leaving the Etihad Stadium before his third season in Sky Blue.

Alfie Haaland said, “I think Erling (Haaland) wants to test out his capabilities in every league.

"Then he can stay in every league for three to four years maximum."

He continued, as relayed by The Times newspaper, "He could have 2½ years in Germany, 2½ in England, and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?," before adding a laugh.

"We do not know if it will be like that, but I think he would like to test his abilities in the big leagues.”

While that may dishearten some supporters, the final sentence should offer plenty of encouragement.

In years gone by, Manchester City have been largely successful in retaining their star players and in some cases persuading star players to turn down interest from elsewhere on the continent.

Perhaps the most notable examples have concerned the likes of David Silva and Sergio Aguero - both of whom commanded interest from Spain over the course of their decade-long stays in England.
