Tommy Fury has the green light to fight for a world championship for the first time in his boxing career.

Fury continued his undefeated streak with a majority decision victory over former strongman Eddie Hall in Manchester last weekend.

The 27-year-old will now be eligible to enter the WBC cruiserweight rankings for only the second time in his career.

Hall praised Fury's performance at the AO Arena, telling reporters post-fight: “Tommy was a really hard guy to catch, and I knew that was going to be the case.

“I had to have a really good energy just to keep up with his pace, and ultimately that's what beat me in the end. Just that energy, running about - I couldn't catch him."

Previously, Fury entered the rankings after defeating Jake Paul in February 2023. He followed that up with wins over KSI and Kenan Hanjalic and overcoming Hall now takes his overall record to 12-0.

Fury's older half-brother, Tyson, watched the Hall fight and declared Tommy was ready to fight WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian, even going as far as to say he could overcome him. "Tommy is a real fighter,” Tyson explained to iFL TV.

"I’d like Mauricio Sulaiman to rank him in the top 15 in the light heavyweight or cruiserweight division.

"Tommy would have a good fight with Noel Mikaelian. Tommy has the ability to beat him...I think a world title shot for Tommy next, maybe."

Mikaelian has since caught wind of Tyson's claims and thrown down the gauntlet to Tommy, as long as he gets a scrap with the 'Gypsy King' afterwards. He also aimed a subtle dig at Tyson, claiming he liked to fight cruiserweights. Fury unsuccessfully faced Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, losing twice to the ex-cruiserweight.

Mikaelian said: "If your brother wants a title shot, I am up for it if Mauricio [Sulaiman] gives me my voluntary defence back, since I haven't heard anything back from the team I was supposed to fight.

"But only if you vow to fight me next. You love the cruiserweights, don’t you?"

It's believed the 'other party' Mikaelian is referring to is that of David Benavidez. The respective camps of both men have been locked in intense negotiations since the beginning of 2026, but little progress has been made.

Tommy Fury believes world championship dream 'drives him on'

Fury aspires to follow in his half-brother's footsteps and bring home championship gold.

He told DAZN last month that aside from financially supporting partner Molly-Mae Hague and their two children, it's becoming a world champion that keeps him motivated to go to the gym and continue training.

"The only thing that I haven’t achieved in my life is being a world champion. So I think that is the thing that keeps me driving on," Fury admitted.

"Financially making sure that we’re good-good. And that’s it, everything’s just for them. You want to make sure they’re financially secure to the best way you can."
