Why Tony Bellew will not be awarded a cash prize if he wins I'm A Celebrity

He will not be awarded a cash prize.

Tony Bellew is in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! final, which airs on Sunday evening. Should he win however he would not be awarded a cash prize.

The 23rd series of I’m A Celeb reaches its conclusion this evening (December 10) after Josie Gibson became the seventh celebrity to leave the jungle on Saturday.

The TV personality’s departure has left the motley crew of Bellew, Sam Thompson and Nigel Farage as the three remaining celebrities who will continue to the final.

Just like every year, whoever is named King of the Jungle will be gifted a crown, staff and the chance to sit on the iconic ‘I’m a Celebrity’ throne.

However, it has been revealed that the remaining contestants will not be going home with a lucrative cash prize this season.

That’s because this year ITV has decided the contestants will only receive a flat fee for appearing on the show. As per the Mirror, the only stipulation for receiving this fee is that campmates must remain in the jungle for at least 72 hours.

Thankfully for Grace Dent and Jamie Lynn Spears, who were both forced to hang up their hats early for medical reasons, they lasted over a week in the camp so will receive their money in full.

It has been widely reported that former UKIP and Brexit Party leader Farage is making some £1.5million for taking part, which would be a record fee for the show.

Meanwhile, the Mail Online claimed that Dent will get an appearance fee of £100,000, and Spears could be getting up to £250,000.

While it is unclear how much Bellew has earned on the show celebrities are usually paid between £30,000 and £600,000.

The Liverpool-born fighter is not the first boxer to enter the jungle as Chris Eubank, David Haye and Amir Khan have also appeared on the show over the years.

Haye, Eubank and Khan earned an alleged £165,000, £200,000 and £400,000 for their appearances respectively.
