Marines from both the United Kingdom and the United States of America finally settled their rivalry in a boxing event that crowned one clear winner.
There can be no doubt that anyone who works as either a member of the United Kingdom's Royal Marines or the United States Marine Corps is seriously tough.
In order to be able to call yourself in Marine in either nation you need to go through a relentless recruitment process followed by a brutal training camp that only a select few people are able to complete.
Of course, this means that those that make it into the marines both in the US and the UK are seen as elite members of the armed forces, with each force widely regarded as one of the best in the world.

Given the close relationship between the two countries, it has often been asked which of the two forces is better, and a group of marines finally decided to settle the debate inside the boxing ring.

Back in May 2018, the Royal Lancaster hotel in London hosted a boxing event that saw men from both the Royal Marines vs US Marine Corps face off to determine who was better while raising money for the Royal Marines charity.
A set of preliminary bouts saw the Royal Marines head into the evening with a 4-3 lead over their American counterparts, with the final four fights set to take place in the London hotel.

The first bout between Marine Chris Murray and US Sargent George Camden saw the Brit take home the victory with a hard-fought split decision, extending the Royal Marine's lead to 5-3.
But the American's weren't ready to concede defeat, as Lance Corporal Kreed Gentz secured the second split decision victory of the evening over Marine Aiden Thompson, restoring the one point gap.
However, Royal Marine Danny Smith made sure that the competition be decided in the final fight, as he picked up a unanimous decision win, sealing the win for the Brits.

Lance Corporal Adam Howe added further reason for celebration amongst the Royal Marines as his win in the final fight took the score for the competition to 7-4 in favour of the UK force.
Speaking after the trophy presentation, boxing coach Sergeant Marc Bird said: "The boys have done fantastically well, the whole training camp they have dug in deep and done everything I asked of them. I couldn't be prouder of the guys."
