A fan on social media has spotted an interesting detail in the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight announcement.

On Thursday it was announced that YouTuber Paul will face former world champion Tyson in a boxing match on July 20.

While it is unclear if it will be an official fight or an exhibition bout, it will be staged in Texas and be free to stream for anyone with a Netflix subscription.

Tyson’s professional career ended in 2005, while he will have turned 58 by the time of the bout with Paul, 27.

He became the youngest heavyweight champion in history at 20, when he beat Trevor Berbick in November 1986. That was Tyson’s 28 professional fight, having made his debut in March 1985 aged 18.

He won 26 of those 28 fights by knockout.

Meanwhile, Paul beat Ryan Bourland in his 10th professional fight last Saturday.

Announcing the fight he said on X: "My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep."

Among the major talking point is the 30-year difference between Tyson and Paul, Moreover, one fan on social media remarked that the picture of Tyson used on the poster was in fact, taken 19 years ago in May 2005 and had been photoshopped.

@oocmma said on X: “i’ve just found the original photo of Mike Tyson from the Jake Paul poster, it was taken 19 years ago and they photoshopped a recent tattoo on it to make it look like a recent picture.

“We are dealing with levels of shamelessness that we have never seen before.”
