Dillian Whyte confronted a ring announcer who hilariously butchered his name ahead of his fight with Moses Itauma this weekend.

On Saturday night Whyte returns to the ring for the first time since December when he squares off against heavyweight prodigy Itauma, who is 12-0 and has been tipped to be in world title contention in the near future.

It all goes down at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with Whyte looking to end Itauma's undefeated run and record a fourth straight victory since his TKO defeat to Tyson Fury in April 2022.

But prior to the bout, Whyte was incensed after Thomas Treiber, ring Announcer for Queensberry, Riyadh Season and The Ring, got his nickname wrong while announcing him to media.

Whyte, 31-3 professional, goes by the 'Body Snatcher' - a reference to his approach of targeting his opponent's torso with deadly punches.

However, Treiber got a little muddled up at the Grand Arrivals, calling him 'baby snatcher' and it did not go down well with the former WBC interim heavyweight champion.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Whyte fumed: "Who was the announcer? I think it was Thomas Treiber Where is he? It’s fight week. They’re playing games."

"It’s a Queensberry show. They’re going to f*** with me. It ain’t nothing new. It’s crazy that he said that. Thomas, I respect him as a professional, but clearly, he’s unprofessional."

During the interview, the 37-year-old called Treiber over to get an explanation of how he came to make the gaffe, saying: "Thomas, come here and speak to me. That's wild. I’ll rush him - joking! What was with that, man?'

"I want to speak to you. Come and speak to me. You can come here and speak to me. What's with that man?"

Whyte added that being referred to as "the baby snatcher" was "crazy" and wild" - though Treiber apologised profusely and stressed that it was just an error on his part.

Ring announcer responded to Dillian Whyte in interview

"I made a mistake," he stated.

"The word came out wrong. I wrote it down, it just came out wrong. I apologise. It was just an honest mistake."

"Unfortunately I only get one chance at it. You'll be the Body Snatcher the rest of the week."

On his Instagram, Whyte wrote that "Tom is the man we all mistakes" but then later shared a video of the clip and claimed that mind games were being played.

He commented: "Wtf we all make mistakes but I know how the mind games go they have started already."

Treiber will have further opportunities to redeem himself at the weigh-in and the fight itself, which is expected to commence after ring walks take place at 10.20pm BST time.
