Pro Tennis Player's Girlfriend Slammed By Fans Online For Her Latest TikTok Video

People have accused her of being tone deaf, privileged and ignorant.

Morgan Riddle has found herself in the firing line from people online following her latest TikTok video.

Riddle, who has almost 40,000 followers on Instagram alone, is currently dating world no. 20 Taylor Fritz.

Riddle, like any loving partner, is very supportive of her other half and decided to make a TikTik video documenting her experiences of travelling around the world to watch her boyfriend compete.

In the clip, which is clearly targeted towards Riddle's followers who don't usually watch the sport, she discusses how the sport works, the four grand slams, the cities you travel to, player rankings and generally what it's like on the ATP tour.

In the opening part, she says: "I know tennis is relatively uncool and unknown in America, so here's what you should know before the [Netflix] show comes out."

Riddle also goes onto explain that tennis tournaments "are not your usual sporting events with hot dogs and beer", but instead "you can expect champagne, strawberries and cream" as well as "getting to wear really cute outfits".

The intro-to-tennis-style TikTok seemed fairly innocent at the time, but it didn't take long for some people to voice their displeasure with it.

The video racked up millions of views in a short space of time, with some people taking to the comments section to accuse Riddle of being tone deaf.

Meanwhile, others called her "privileged" and "ignorant".

Many people were quick to leap to Riddle's defence following the backlash, including her partner.

"I think what she did was awesome for our sport. It got a ton of people looking at it," Fritz said.

"I think you get your typical older fan maybe upset about it. I don't understand how anyone can get upset about it.

"I'm the one that's a professional tennis player, I'm the one that does this for a living. I 100 per cent agree with everything in that video.

"People know a couple, they know what the grand slams are, a couple little things about it, they're like, 'What are you talking about?'"

Max Sherry is a journalist for SPORTbible Australia. After migrating Down Under from London as a teenager, he instantly fell in love with Aussie sport and its culture. From NRL to AFL, cricket to rugby — you name it, Max watches it (with a beer in hand, of course). During his time at Fox Sports, he worked in the football department covering the Premier League, A-League, Socceroos and Matildas. Born a stone's throw away from West Ham's training ground, Max is obviously a die-hard Liverpool fan.
