Naomi Osaka's boyfriend is gaining a lot of attention on social media - and for all the wrong reasons.
US rapper Cordae was on hand to celebrate his girlfriend's win at the US Open, but his on-court antics after the final didn't sit well with a select few people in the tennis community.
At first, it appeared Cordae's sheer awkwardness during the post-match team photos gave viewers a giggle.

From looking like he was going to pop a squat to the weird rubbing of his hands, fans online were having a field day upon seeing his bizarre behaviour.
But it wasn't long before an uglier, more serious, image surfaced of the duo's celebrations.

In one photo, Cordae is seen flipping the bird to the camera while standing alongside Osaka and the US Open trophy.
Fans, athletes and former players were quick to pile into the couple on social media.
One supporter said: "Naomi Osaka wins the US Open and her boyfriend makes it all about him. Show some class."
While another tweeted: "Your boyfriends hand gesture is disgraceful....why did you take a pic with him doing that? Who was he directing that to?"

And another agreed: "All I can say about this photo is sweetie, you can do better in the boyfriend department."
But not everyone saw the serious side to it, as one supporters said: "Naomi Osaka and her boyfriend pissing off all the old racist tennis fans is the only thing fuelling me at the moment."
And while Cordae's hand gesture got under some fans' skin, it was his t-shirt that really raised a few eyebrows.

Seen sitting in the stands at Flushing Meadows as Osaka beat Victoria Azarenka, the US rapper was wearing a shirt with the words "defund the police" inscribed on it.
Journalist Derrick Clifton tweeted: "Naomi Osaka's boyfriend is wearing a DEFUND THE POLICE t-shirt alongside her on the court as she poses with the US Open championship trophy. Both of them are not holding back."
While conservative radio host Larry Elder said: "At the US Open and while SURROUNDED BY SECURITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT, Naomi Osaka's rapper boyfriend Cordae sported a t-shirt that read "Defund the police." How about starting with the U.S. Open?"
But Cordae wasn't going to just sit back and cop the criticism without having his say.

After being bombarded with comments judging him for both his attire and his celebrations, the rapper jumped on Twitter to share his thoughts.
He tweeted: "Ultra black, unapologetically black. No matter where I'm at. Forever."
