Lydia Ko left a veteran golf reporter "lost for words" during an incredibly-honest and upfront interview.

The world No.3 has just finished second to Marina Alex at the Palos Verdes Championship when she was pulled for a quick one-on-one chat with the Golf Channel's Jerry Foltz.

During the final round of the tournament, the New Zealander was spotted being stretched out by her physio while on the course and Foltz decided to ask her about this during their interview.

But the truthful answer that Ko gave to Foltz's question appeared to leave the reporter well and truly speechless.

"I hope not," Ko replied when asked if the tightness in her back would be a concern moving forward.

"It's that time of the month. I know the ladies watching are probably like, yeah, I got you. So, when that happens, my back gets really tight, and I'm all twisted. It's not the first time that Chris has seen me twisted, but it felt a lot better after he came. So, yeah, there you go."

There was a slight pause after Ko had finished her sentence as Foltz stuttered over his words.

In the end, he simply said: "Ummm, thanks".

Ko saw the amusing side of things and had a giggle herself.

"I know you're lost for words, Jerry. Honesty it is," she added.

When the LPGA, which is the sport's governing body, posted the clip on social media it instantly blew up with fans quick to heap praise on the Kiwi star for her honest response.

One bloke tweeted: "Loved your comment LK. The guy was left speechless. You just said it like it is. Female sports stars have to battle on, us men love and respect you all for that."

While another added: "He asked the question, you answered. It happens. Thanks Lydia Ko for your maturity and honesty."

As one said: "Love her! Always honest and upbeat."
