The truth behind Simone Biles' blog post 'mocking Charlie Kirk' has been explained and it's a little further away from what social media might be telling you.
Last week, conservative political activist Kirk, 31, was shot dead while speaking at a campus rally at Utah Valley University.
Kirk was a controversial figure in American politics, and played a key role in mobilising the youth vote for Donald Trump last year. He was outspoken on numerous issues and had been critical of the American gymnast Biles in 2021, when she withdrew from events at the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health.
At the time, Kirk labelled her a 'sociopath' and a 'shame to the country'. Given their past, some people believed that Biles had written a blog mocking Kirk after his death, referencing those earlier insults.

But it has since been confirmed that the article was AI-generated. It included no specifics, nor any link to Biles herself blog.
One line read: "The blog arrived like a lightning strike, sending shockwaves through both the sports and political landscapes."
Kirk was debating with college students on his 'American Comeback tour' with his organisation Turning Point USA when he was fatally shot.

Popular podcaster Joe Rogan was recording an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with Charlie Sheen when the news broke.
Rogan said: "It’s so scary. It’s so dangerous too, to celebrate or to in any way encourage this kind of behaviour from human beings. He’s not a violent guy, he’s talking to people on college campuses. He wasn’t even particularly rude. He tried to be pretty reasonable with people.”
“He’s a very intelligent guy whether you agree with him or don’t,” Rogan continued.
“And there’s a lot of stuff I didn’t agree with him on, that’s fine. You’re allowed to disagree with people without celebrating the fact that he got shot.

"My daughter, she's 19, she's in college and she's been destroyed over this thing for the last couple of days.
"You have to feel horrible for his family, and yeah its f*****g crazy."
