Simone Biles revealed the DMs she sent husband Jonathan Owens that kickstarted relationship with NFL star

Simone Biles is arguably the greatest gymnast of all time. And the multi-time gold medalist is also one half of an elite sporting couple.

The 27-year-old Team USA veteran has won a staggering 11 medals Olympic medals – including seven gold – as well as 23 gold medals at the World Championships.

At the Paris Games last summer, Biles took home three golds and a silver to help banish the memory of a difficult 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro that saw he struggle to perform, winning just one silver.

Since 2020, she has been in a relationship win NFL star Jonathan Owens.

The 27-year-old defensive back was playing for the Texans in Biles' native Houston at the time the pair began to date. He spent the 2023 season with the Green Bay Packers and currently plays for the Chicago Bears.

In a 2021 interview with the Wall Street Journal magazine, Biles opened up about how her romance with Owens began over a message that she reportedly sent to the NFL safety via the dating app Raya.

"He would say I slid into his DMs," Biles said when discussing how their relationship began. "I saw him and I was like, 'Oh, he’s pretty cute,' so I said hi…and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later."

The pair married in 2023 and Owens took time out of his NFL schedule last year to support his superstar gymnast partner at the Olympics.

“The Bears are actually granting him a couple days off from training camp, so he’ll be there, yes," Biles said in a press conference at the time. "For just a short time.

“It’s these memories that we make that we’ll never get back, so anytime we can show up for one another in support, we just get super excited because our schedules don’t align that much. So whenever it does, it’s really important for the both of us to show up in support.”
