Pop star Britney Spears has claimed she has broken Usain Bolt's world record for the 100-metre dash by four seconds.

Jamaican runner Bolt earned the record back in 2009 after completing a 100-metre run in 9.58 seconds at the Berlin World Athletics Championships.

However, 'Toxic' singer Spears has now taken to Instagram to post her speed from a recent workout and it smashes Bolt's record by quite a distance, clocking in at 5.97 seconds.

The American's post on Instagram was captioned:

"Ran my first 5!!!! Getting over your fear of pushing it in the beginning is key... Once I did that I hit 5!!!!! Usually I run 6 or 7... My first try was 9 .... and now I did it whoop !!!!! 100 meter dash," with a winking face.

It would certainly be an interesting career change for 'The Princess of Pop' if she decided to go all in with athletics.

Fans on social media have reacted to Spears' claims and they're also finding it very hard to believe shes broken the world record.

Usain Bolt is yet to respond to the post but it's likely he'd get some amusement out of it.
