Gout Gout added another 100m record to his ever-growing collection on Saturday as he became the third fastest man in Australian history.

The 18-year-old, who is widely regarded as the most talented sprinter of his generation, has gone from strength to strength since breaking Usain Bolt’s under-16 record at the 2024 Australian All Schools Championships.

Most notably, he was chosen to represent Australia at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where he became the youngest sprinter ever to feature in a World Championships over 200m.

Back in October, he also smashed a 400m record in 46.18 seconds before anchoring a record-breaking 4x100m relay time at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre in Brisbane.

Gout returned to Brisbane on Saturday (February 21) to take part in a Queensland club athletics meeting and proceeded to produce 'one of the greatest performances in Australian athletics history', according to the Herald Sun.

"Gout Gout has stunned the athletics world with an amazing secret comeback run which equalled the best legal 100m performance by an Australian on home soil," the publication wrote on X, alongside footage of the race.

As seen below, Gout recorded the joint-fastest legal 100m by an Australian on home soil, clocking a time of 10.00 (+0.9) at the meet.

He also claimed the under-20 Australian record, breaking Jake Doran’s 10.15 time from 2018 to create another piece of history.

Despite losing his long-standing record, Doran delivered a gracious response. "It was only a matter of time," he wrote on Instagram. "Proud it took someone of Gout’s calibre to eclipse my mark."

As mentioned above, the impressive 10.00 run means Gout moves up to third on the Australian senior all-time list, where he now sits behind Patrick Johnson and Lachlan Kennedy.

He also secures his first qualifying performance in the 100m event for the 2026 World Athletics Under-20 Championships, which will be held at Hayward Field in Oregon from August 5–9 this year.

Usain Bolt snubbed Gout Gout when naming the man he thinks can beat his 100m world record

Nobody has come close to beating Usain Bolt's 100m time of 9.58, a record that has stood since 2009.

Speaking in an interview on The Fix Podcast, he snubbed Noah Lyles and Gout Gout when discussing who could beat the record and named compatriot Oblique Seville as the man who could finally smash the 9.58 barrier.

"I feel like Oblique can do it [break my record]," said Bolt. "If he can stay fit during the season and get it right, I feel he can do it. Because I am sure there is something there, the ability to do it.

"Some of the time Oblique can be fragile. It's a matter of the work situation or whatever, but if he's doing enough work, he can do it."

Bolt added: "It's a matter of time because he's not missed the finals yet, so it's just to get over the hump."
